Who we are
Our History
Jett-Jett's 2nd Chance Nursery was founded in 2023 by Amy Jo Martin, of Wilkes County, North Carolina, who recognized the need for a local organization dedicated to helping animal shelters and rescues by offering 24/7 neonatal (newborn) care.
In August 2024, we opened our "Waggin' Tails Whelping Room", where we provide a safe place for a rescue/shelter momma dog to have her puppies and raise them until they are old enough to be weaned.
We are a small 501(c)3 nonprofit, serving dozens of 'in need' animals each year.

Our Founder
Amy Jo Martin is a self-employed North Carolina attorney whose passion has always been caring for special needs dogs. She has found that nothing gives her more joy than to give these special pups a chance at living happy fulfilled lives. After seeing that there was a local need to have someone available to provide 24/7 care to neonatal (newborn) puppies and kittens, she decided to create Jett-Jett's 2nd Chance Nursery.
In 2024 Amy Jo opened the "Waggin' Tails Whelping Room" and "Wiggle Butts Whelping Room" in her home. These spaces give shelter/rescue momma dogs safe and clean areas to have their puppies and raise them until the entire families are ready to find their forever homes.
Being self-employed allows Amy Jo to flex her schedule in order to properly care for her fosters.
Our Partners
We are proud to partner with multiple local rescues and animal shelters by providing these babies with the best possible chances of survival despite coming to us under adverse conditions. Our partners share our passion and help us extend our reach and impact in the rescue community.

One morning Mac woke up with a large abscess under his ear. Off to the vet clinic we went to get it drained.

Thankfully, our vet clinic worked us right in. Dr. Royal, with the assistance of Courtney and April, drained Mac's abscess, put him on antibiotics and sent us home. A few days later and Mac is doing great! Having an excellent veterinary clinic to depend on is essential to rescue!
